Bubba, Obviously Excited to Have Her Picture Taken

The scars on the top of her nose and the other to the left are from rattle snake bites.  A downside of living in the desert but everywhere has its' pros and cons. :0)

All dogs rely on their human parents to care for them, to make sure that they are well fed, properly treated, and enjoy their short lives. In return, we get pure love, loyalty, and happiness

omg rattlesnake bites? Aren't those super poisonous? What do you do if/when that happens?

When she was bitten the first time we took her to the vet and had a choice of anti-venom which would be around $1500 because of her size, or giving her antibiotics and pain pills. We chose the antibiotic route and waited it out. After a several days she improved.
So the second time it happened we used the same treatment. This time her reaction was not as bad. She may have built up an immunity. Her size was definitely in her favor. She seems to avoid snakes now and hopefully her memory of the bites will stay with her, of course the other 8 dogs find them a curiosity.
Yes, the Diamondbacks venom is toxic. We usually have a run in with two or three snakes a year. When the dogs start to bark like crazy we know something is amiss and go out to remove the problem.

Oh I want to hug Bubba so much what a gorgeous dog. She looks totally and utterly fabulous. My friend in South Africa lost his dog to a Puff Adder this year...he was distraught and the brave little thing battled so hard after he was bitten.
Thank heavens Bubba has survived.
Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my posts. I really enjoy writing about my mad little life and it is made all the more enjoyable by having such an encouraging and appreciative audience made up of lovely people like you. Thanks for becoming my follower. Nine dogs and rattle snakes.... What a combination! My limit was two dogs but my 15 yr old chihuahua died last year. Now I just have cody, a border collie/aussie mix. Love your blog.
Best Wishes for a loving New Year
