The Intruder - Part of Desert Living

This Gila Monster decided to enter on to our crazy acre. Unfortunately for him he wasn't able to exit without being noticed by our dogs. He  bit  one of our dogs Mercy, but she somehow got free of him. We nursed her with antibiotics and Benadryl and she was up and running two days later.
.
I have added the reaction buttons for those of you who find it more convenient than writing comments. So please feel free to use either.  Thanks for visiting.  :0)

Sorry to hear about Mercy getting bit, but glad she is doing better. Are gila monsters poisoness or dangerous? I wouldn't have a clue.

Beautiful creature though.

Poor kiddo! Dogs will get into everything...I'm just glad she's doing ok. Pretty critter, though - I do love the reptiles ;)

Oh, that picture brings back alot of memories..when I was in the 7th grade back in the late 50s, we moved to Fort Worth, TX and it rained for 40 days and 40 nights...lol..well it seemed like it, we lived on the highest hill in the area and I think every animal and crawlly thing came to visit to get out of the flood waters, including one of these terrible things. Our elderly neighbor set down on one in her living room..she was in hospital for several weeks.
They are beautiful but I want no part of them.

eeeeek! M wanted to run and hide when she saw dat crawly monster. But, I on the other hand, wanted to bat at him. M said she would have trouble living in AZ because of all the creepy crawlers. She doesn't even like lizzards - can you imangine.
