The Top of the World

Today my daughter and I went to Kitt Peak.  I take pictures of the large telescope from home all the time.  Today I went there to see it up close and personal!   I felt as if we were  on the top of the world looking down into the desert.  I have lived here for 7 years and never visited before.  Shame on Me!!!  It was AMAZING!!!

It looks awaesome! Those large silent domes nestled amongst the rocks and gazing out into the bright blue heavens!

Being a blogger is a good thing, giving us the impetus to be a little more adventurous in exploring our own immediate surroundings. You certainly do that every day, Cherie, with the amazing aray of pictures you post for our enjoyment.

Enjoy your weekend!

Oh! BTW, I gave your link to Michael & Hanne, a delightful retired couple who live in Penticton, Canada. They are also avid photographers and do an 'almost daily' post. I thought you might enjoy 'meeting' each other! Their blog is PENTICTON COMMENTARY and the link is:

I'd told them about your boat in the desert, as their latest post featured an exercise bike left in the hills!

Hugs,

Des xo

I am sooo envious. Last week my husband and I were vacationing on Hawaii's Big Island, and we were scheduled to take a tour up to the observatory on Mauna Kea. Unfortunately, the tour company cancelled the excursion, saying that conditions on the mountain wouldn't allow them to make the trip.
What a bummer. The rest of our trip was glorious, however!

I think if you take a tour then you can go in to see the telescopes. We stayed outside walking around and taking in the scenery.
Her next visit we will plan to go up there in the evening for a special star gazing tour.

Tengo un pequeño telescopio en casa, adoro la astronomia! Sería impactante poder mirar a traves de una de estas lentes! Una foto muy buena!
